IKEM and ÚZIS have signed a memorandum of cooperation on the CarDia project

On May 6, 2025, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM) and the Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the Czech Republic (ÚZIS). The two institutions have thus formally committed to collaboration within the CarDia project – the National Institute for Research on Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases, funded through the EXCELES program under the National Recovery Plan.

The cooperation between these two key institutions in Czech healthcare focuses on the exchange of expert data, implementation of joint research projects, popularization of science, and improvement of health literacy among the general public. The memorandum also supports the development of educational activities and specialized training for students and professionals in medicine and related sciences.

The CarDia project is led by IKEM under the scientific supervision of Prof. MUDr. Martin Haluzík, DrSc., and focuses on the most common chronic diseases that significantly affect both quality and length of life, especially diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases.

The memorandum was signed by IKEM Director Ing. Helena Rögnerová and ÚZIS Director Prof. RNDr. Ladislav Dušek, Ph.D. Together, they committed to active and long-term cooperation, which will continue until the end of 2028
