Report from the ESC Heart & Stroke Congress – EuroThrombosis 2025**

On November 15–16, 2025, the ESC Heart & Stroke – EuroThrombosis 2025 congress was held at the University of Milan, with 310 experts from five continents in attendance. Prof. MUDr. Petr Widimský, DrSc. contributed to the congress preparation as a member of the ESC Council on Stroke (CoS). In addition to CoS, the ESC Eurothrombosis Working Group (WG ET) also participated in organizing the program.

Thanks to the support of the Exceles CarDia project, the Cardiocentre team of the 3rd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University had a dedicated session in the main hall. The following studies were presented:

PRAGUE-16 – Jakub Sulženko, Petr Widimský et al.: Mechanical thrombectomy in ischemic strokes.

PRAGUE-17 – Pavel Osmančík, Petr Widimský et al.: Four-year results of left atrial appendage occlusion vs. NOAC therapy.

PRAGUE-25 – Pavel Osmančík, Dalibor Heřman et al.: Catheter ablation vs. maximal conservative treatment in patients with atrial fibrillation.

A planned lecture by Prof. Zuzana Moťovská on PRAGUE-23 was canceled for personal reasons.

The Charles University symposium received outstanding international recognition and contributed to the decision to host the 2026 congress in Prague, where the university will again present its latest research results.
