Seminar on Genetic Approaches to Predicting Diabetes Complications Held at IKEM

On 1 July 2025, an expert seminar entitled Genetic Approaches to Predicting Complications of Both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes was held at the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM). The event focused on current research into genetic predispositions to complications associated with both types of diabetes.

The speakers included:

  • Prof. Johanne Tremblay, a leading Canadian geneticist from the Université de Montréal,
  • Prof. Pavel Hamet, a Czech geneticist with long-term experience at the same university,
  • and Assoc. Prof. Michal Dubský, M.D., Ph.D., representing IKEM, who presented the CORDIA study.


The seminar was organized under the auspices of the National Institute for Research on Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases (EXCELES Program, project number: LX22NPO5104) and funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU.
