SKVIMP 2025 – Metabolic Flexibility and Insulin Resistance

At the international SKVIMP Congress in Hradec Králové, Associate Professor MUDr. Jan Gojda, Ph.D., from the 3rd Faculty of Medicine at Charles University, together with his colleagues, presented the topic of metabolic flexibility — the organism’s ability to adapt the use of fats and carbohydrates according to varying conditions. This concept is critically important for the prevention and treatment of diseases such as type 2 diabetes, as well as for managing stress conditions in intensive care. The research introduces new models of metabolic adaptation in various physiological and pathological situations.

The study is supported by the National Institute for Research of Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases (EXCELES Program, ID: LX22NPO5104) — Funded by the European Union — Next Generation EU.
