The first scientific conference of the National Institute for Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases Research LX22NPO5104 (CarDia) was held in Brno on 31 March - 1 April 2023.

The event was attended not only by researchers from all participating institutions, but also by members of the project's International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB) and the project's financial and administrative staff.

The conference included presentations across all project activities together with discussions at 10 poster exhibitions. The conference was an opportunity for the teams involved in the project to meet, discuss excellent science and establish deeper collaborations. The institutions involved have a wide range of research methods, different patient cohorts and a number of experimental models of the diseases studied. The meeting thus allowed for a closer introduction of the inter-institutional research teams and in many cases the initiation of new collaborations or the establishment and deepening of existing collaborations.

The CarDia conference was concluded with a tour of the collaborating sites at Masaryk University.
