Vascular complications in people with type 1 diabetes may have different causes than those in type 2 diabetes — their mechanisms are more complex and are significantly influenced by sex and genetics. A team of experts from IKEM, including MUDr. Jan Piťha, along with other research institutions, conducted an extensive analysis of the relationship between traditional and novel cardiovascular risk factors and a wide range of vascular damage in 520 men and women with type 1 diabetes.
